About
Best Surf Destinations started the way most good surf stories do, chasing waves.
Not as pros. Not as influencers. Just as people who wanted to travel, surf, and figure it out along the way.
Back in 2017, we found ourselves spending more time googling surf spots than actually understanding them. Every guide felt either too vague, too polished, or written by someone who wasn’t really in the water. It was hard to know what was actually beginner-friendly, what breaks worked at different times of year, or what a place would feel like once you got there.
So we started building our own guides.
Real notes from real trips. What the waves were actually like. Where we stayed. What we’d do differently next time. No big claims, no pretending to be better than we were, just honest surf travel guides from a few friends learning along the way.
By Surfers, For Surfers
Everything on this site comes from people who genuinely love being in the water.
We’re not trying to be the best surfers in the lineup, we’re the ones paddling out early, staying out too long, wiping out more than we’d like, and still coming back the next day.
That’s the ethos behind each one of our surf travel guides.
It’s not about chasing the most advanced breaks or ticking off the “coolest” destinations. It’s about finding places where you can actually surf, improve, and enjoy the experience, wherever you’re at.
The Bigger Picture
Over time, Best Surf Destinations has grown into something bigger than just a blog.
But the core hasn’t changed.
It’s still built on real experiences, honest recommendations, and a simple idea:
surf travel and learning to surf should feel accessible, not intimidating.
If you’re planning your first surf trip, or your tenth, you’re in the right place.
See you in the water.
