It’s based in Carcavelos, within walking distance of the beach, so you’ve got straightforward access to one of the most consistent beginner-friendly spots in the area. But what makes this place stand out isn’t just the location, it’s everything else around it.
The setup is much more like a mini surf complex than a typical hostel.
You’ve got a pool, pool bar, large garden, yoga deck, and loads of communal space, so there’s always somewhere to hang out. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend a full day without needing to go anywhere if you don’t want to.
It is definitely one of the more social options on the list.
If you’re after something quiet and low-key, this probably isn’t the best fit. There’s a constant flow of people coming and going, and the energy carries through late into the evenings.
That said, it works well if you like that kind of environment. Surf during the day, then hang out, have a few drinks, and party in the evening.

Surf Lisbon is based in Caxias, a charming coastal town, just 15 minutes from central Lisbon.
The house itself is very different to somewhere like Lisbon Surf Hostel. It’s smaller, more boutique, and set in an authentic old Portuguese building. High ceilings, thick walls, big windows, it feels a bit more lived-in and local.
There’s a mix of private rooms and dorms, and overall it leans more towards cozy than social chaos.
If you want something smaller, more relaxed, and closer to Lisbon, this is a really good option.

Next on my list of the best surf hostels in Lisbon is SURFinn Lisbon.
This is a smaller, more modern version of Lisbon Surf Hostel. Still social, still surf-focused, but a bit more polished.
It’s based in Costa da Caparica, just a short walk from the beach, so you’ve got easy access to one of the most consistent surf areas around Lisbon.
It’s clean, modern, and designed to be somewhere you actually want to spend time.
You’ve got a garden with a pool, rooftop bar, BBQ area, and multiple spaces to hang out.
The rooms are spacious, with a mix of dorms and private options, and overall it leans more towards comfort than a typical backpacker setup. Breakfast is included each morning, which is a bonus.
If you want something social but a bit more modern and considered, this is a really good option. It gives you the energy of a surf hostel, but in a smaller, more relaxed setting.

Last on my list of the best surf hostels in Lisbon is SURFbase Lisbon.
It’s based in Costa da Caparica, right in the centre and just behind the beach, so you’re a short walk from the waves, the boulevard, and all the bars and restaurants. Location-wise, it’s very easy. Surf, food, drinks, everything is right there, with Lisbon about 20 minutes away when you want it.
The hostel is capped at 18 guests, so it feels much more like a shared house than a big hostel. You’ve got a courtyard, a covered bar, and communal spaces where people naturally come together, especially in the evenings.
It’s social, but in a more contained way.
There’s a bit more structure than a typical hostel too. Breakfast is included every day, there’s an activity program (things like beach volleyball and surf skating), and they run optional dinner nights a few times a week, which is an easy way to meet people without forcing it.
Rooms are a mix of dorms and privates, all simple but comfortable, and designed more around shared experience than luxury.
This is a great option if you want the social side of a surf camp, but in a smaller, more relaxed setting. Easy to meet people, easy to settle in, and a really good middle ground between hostel and surf camp.
